Ooops...

Whew! It's been a while. Sorry about that! We've been a little snowed under with riding, schoolwork and the Easter Passion play at church the past few weeks...plus I vamoosed to Frankfort for TeenPact most of last week :)

We'll try to do better, I promise!

On a lighter note, my current craze- hair braiding. And my latest: Rapunzel braid from Disney's Tangled (fellow fanatics- remember Kingdom Dance with all the flowers? :).

I couldn't pull off the flowers in March (even though it is spring...grrr) but....I am in love! This is gorgeous!!! Clara's hair really makes it real :)

P.S. I edited it just a little... to put in bokeh:)

I love my sister and her hair!!!

p.s. kenzi...you're next :P

Hair jewelry...what could be better?

Now, if you know me, I don't really so much with my hair. However, both Ms. Tyanne at Lamp on a Stand and Ms. Cheryl at Treasures from a Shoebox are hosting a giveaway for a free Lilla Rose flex clip! I have entered, and you should too! One day I will buckle down and buy one, but until then I content myself with entering as many giveaways as possible in case I get lucky!

Giveaway here!

And Here!

Hurry up!

Come on spring!!! You all know I do like winter but...

Today I went here:

And the thermometer looked like this:

So I looked like this:

Only where I went  looked like this:

So the horse looked like this:

And my feet looked like this!
Yes, we're talking shin-deep mud and who knows what else!! Blech!!

So...come on Spring! You can do it!

Ta-daaa!!!

For mi amiga Kenzi, mostly...I have promised to show you :)

My room!!! It is still clean!! Almost four weeks later! (For those of you who have not seen my room before February 16, you used to not be able to see the floor. Or the desk. Or the bed. Or either dresser. And we're not even close to how messy the walls were or whether the bed was made.)

B is for...

Gee willikins, that's a hard one. I can think of a lot of things...not many of which would sustain an entire blog post :)

...Brothers
...Broadway
...Ballet
...Bananas (Clara's contribution :)
...Books
...Brilliance
...Badminton?
...Baseball?
...Boring?
...Math?

OK, that does not start with B, but you got me stuck on boring :)

...Ummm...not getting much...how about we stick with what we got.

...Brothers

I a lot of times feel like I'm not being a good enough sister. I was working on the computer the other day when Levi, who was playing "house," asked me: "Heidi? Will you be the big sister?"

I know, awwww moment. But that really hit me where I live.

I only have so much time with these kiddos, and when I go to college, do I want Levi and Billy to remember their sister always  trying to get ahead in school, always practicing her voice lesson, always reading with the door locked, or do I want them to remember her always ready to play dogs, always willing to bake cupcakes, always ready for a tickle fight?

I want to choose the latter.

I want Burt to see me as a model of the girl he would like to marry, not the girl he wouldn't. I want him to remember me cheering at his soccer games and going roller skating. I want Levi to remember playing in the sandbox. I want Billy to remember hiding under the comforter. I want to be proud of my brothers, and I want them to be proud of me and look up to me.

...Broadway

Mary Poppins left Broadway this Sunday. Sad, sad, sad. :) Even more so because I never got the chance to try out for Jane Banks (just kidding...I think she's a soprano part).

Seriously though, I think about it a lot. The principle of it, I mean. I want to be there. I want to perform But I know a lot of it's kindof immoral, kindof crass, kindof inappropriate. I know of more then one Christian who was almost there and quit...and even more who thought it was no place to try and raise a child. But I think, if God wants me there, He will make it OK. If every Christian leaves the places that need Him most, what will become of the people there? I have already had some great conversations about God and the principles of salvation through drama. I believe witnesses are needed there almost as much as anywhere else. And if that's where God wants me, I'll have at it!

...Ballet

OK...I love it. It's fun. I'm not good at it. In fact, I kindof stink. But that's OK, I'll get better :)

...Bananas

What is there to say? Bananas grow on trees. They taste good with peanut butter. They make good muffins. They are featured in a song from the Broadway musical A Year with Frog and Toad. Nuff said.

...Books

See top page :) Books are windows to another world. I could not live without them. We were watching a documentary on Mark Twain today and he was described as being the first person to make writing an art. Big, happy sigh.

...Brilliance

Moi. Just kidding :) Here are some pictures of brilliance I have come in contact with.

...    ...    ???

You really cannot expect me to write extensively about badminton. You hit things with rackets. Raquets. Whatever.

Same for baseball, only you use clubs bats.
Both are boring...but baseball's better (hey, I'm starting to get the hang of this 'B' thing :)

Unfortunately, the only thing I can say about boring is Henry the Navigator. The only thing I can say about math is it is less hard than it used to be. Or it was until I started Geometry. Well, it's not that hard, it's just time consuming. I'm actually looking forward to starting the text on it.

Well...there you have it. A very Claraesque post, I'm afraid. Unfortunately for you, I have suddenly had like four ideas, so get used to checking up on us :)

Croci, Worms, and Things About I

Bonjour, it's jovial, jocular, jolly old me!  How happy you must be to hear or see my words again, as you have long been deprived of my gracious speeches. Do not fear, I shall attempt to provide all with more posts in the near future. Thank you for your applause. ;^)

That's Billy, he's just great, the only bad thing about him is that somebody taught him how to fight with light sabers and now you have watch out because if he has a light saber he'll whack you when you're not looking. Quite painful.

And by the way Curly (that big black furry thing) had his 4th (I think) birthday on February 28. A very happy birthday, in my opinion, though I never was able to get him to give his opinion on the subject. Curly never does talk much, except to bark at newcomers. He must be a rather thoughtful, silent fellow, I think. But now he's an old man at the great age of four.
And my crocuses bloomed! They're all dead for the year now, of course, owing to the recent snow, but I thought their brief appearance quite exciting. I feel just as thought the man in Norman Rockwell's painting, Crocuses, does.

There's the horse, happy, and quite healthy, I believe. So you know what has gone on with each of our pets. Except that I am thinking of procuring for myself a planarian, which if I choose to do so I shall catch myself, and if I get one it will probably be named Sir William or Lady Elena. And if I get one I shall say so. Goodbye.

Adieu,
Lady Clara, Duchess of Frying Pans.
